Josh? Puts Twist on BADBADNOTGOOD’s Tone’s Rap with “Show Me Love”

Saturday, November 24th, 2018

Back in 2015, we had the pleasure of being exposed to rising rapper Josh? who had released his project The Pre Tape. The release had featured four tracks and consisted of the rapper flowing over production ranging from 9th Wonder and Pete Rock to Da Beatminerz and Ski Beats that ultimately made us do a double-take at the New Jersey native’s wordplay.

After three years of releasing the well received project, Josh? is back with new music and new perspective. Recently the rapper dropped a track called “Show Me Love” and it’s simply, real. The song takes a raw direction over  BADBADNOTGOOD‘s “Tone’s Rap”, doesn’t fall short of expression, and it’s safe to say that his rise will definitely be worthy of watch. For now, peep this artist on the rise’s latest track below and let us know what you think.

LA’s Pure Luxury is one to get to know

Friday, October 26th, 2018

I recently came across some content from an artist on the rise who’s music is bound to get your attention just like his name. Out of Los Angeles, California, rapper and producer Pure Luxury is not one to be slept on. Originally starting out as a producer, he eventually figured out that sending beats for other people to rap on and selling beats via Youtube weren’t the kind of moves he wanted to make. Pure Luxury would soon be inspired by his friend MCM Raymond to take on rapping and was influenced stylistically through Tyga and Migos (who were underground at the time). Luxury and Raymond soon teamed up to make their joint track “Lax”. After the release , Luxury and Raymond continued to release trap songs but soon realized that tapping into sounds of the west coast would be more beneficial for them and indeed it was. Luxury soon went from experiencing thousands of plays to hundreds of thousands and it’s no doubt that what he’s doing right now is following that same wave. This year Pure Luxury has released a couple tracks underneath his name and recently he dropped his track “Not Yo Nigga” featuring Nasty Nas along with a visual for it following up after his track “Give It To Me”.

It’s clear that what Luxury has, the people want and it’s definitely apparent in how it’s currently gravitating. Luxury plans to release two visuals before the year including one for an unreleased track which is set to release in late November with a release for the second in December.  For now, get to know our artist on the rise, check out his Soundcloud here, peep the visual above, and give us your thoughts!

Wavy Banx applies pressure and “Finesse” in latest visual

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2018

When it comes to indie artist Wavy Banx, talking “Finesse” comes easy. The 23 year-old Greensboro native grew up highly influenced by the greats from Tupac and Lil Wayne to UGK and Outkast, free-styling amongst his circle, and even writing verses at even a young age. It wasn’t until he graduated from college and moved down to the heavy hip-hop music scene of ATL when he realized that music was a calling he couldn’t deny. Recently the creative released a trippy visual (directed by Rex Way) for his track “Finesse” and we just cant seem to stop pressing play. It’s clear that this is just the beginning for Banx but for now, peep this artist on the rise’s visual below and let us know what you think!

J’lan Oliver graces us with soulful visual for “As You Are”

Thursday, October 11th, 2018

If we had to describe a raw talent who’s on the rise, we would have to put Brooklyn’s very own J’lan Oliver within that sentence. J’lan has always been passionate about singing, playing guitar, and it has been apparent from the progressive popularity he’s gained from his acoustic covers via Youtube. After releasing numerous covers ranging from a thousand to sixty-two thousand views and various track releases through SoundCloud, the 23-year old recently released his 5-track EP entitled Acoustic Odyssey. Amongst the project, J’lan is transparent and in tune with the artist he is becoming. In addition to recently dropping this project, J’lan also dropped his lyrical visual for the EP’s second track “As You Are” that we just cant get enough of.

Tap above to take a look at his recent visual (directed by Muve Media) and peep and stream his latest project here to get the perfect glimpse of what’s to come.

Milan Hightower drops visual for “No More”

Thursday, August 30th, 2018

If you’re familiar with the North Carolina music scene, you’re definitely familiar with the  Dirty Sauce Gawd himself and artist on the rise, Milan Hightower. Last year, he released his 7-track project entitled Dirty Sauce God and since then he has thrown events that have circled around the project such as the Dirty Sauce Gala during CIAA, a listening party, performed during Joseph Headen’s Durag Festival and various pop up shops, and has released numerous visuals.

Recently the attention grabbing performer dropped a visual for the last track off his debut project  called  “No More“(prod. by Sean Da Firzt). The Devin Johnson directed visual showcases the rapper going through the aftermath of faded love within a series of flashbacks of the past and cameos of the present. Peep Milan’s latest video below and let us know what you think!

Savanah Von Hell’Sing’s “Die’Ana” proves he’s one to watch

Thursday, August 30th, 2018

If you’re seeking a new artist to spark up your playlist, perhaps Savanah Von Hell’Sing is exactly what you’re missing. The 21 year-old Charlotte native is not your typical artist, nor does he want to be. Savanah has always had a passion for music but decided it was time to put his passion to work starting just this past February.

The artist who is solely influenced by James Brown debuted his first single “Die’Ana” and since then, he’s received over 10k listens on the track. The song is the perfect mesh between a bop you’d come across in H&M and an eclectic ballad. Luckily for us, this is just the beginning of what he plans to slowly (but surely) release throughout the rest of the year and beyond. For now, press play and enjoy the latest from this artist on the rise below.

It’s “All Eye$” on Saturn, Alexander in her latest visual

Monday, June 11th, 2018

Back in September, we caught up with Jersey’s artist on the rise Saturn, Alexander where we covered an arrange of things with the rising rapper starting from  the pros and cons of being a female rapper to talking about confidence, wanting to make girls feel inclusive with her music, and why being  a Gemini wasn’t all that bad. Since the interview, our girl has been on the move from opening up for Rico Nasty to even having her music played inside Adidas flagship stores. In the midst of leveling up, Saturn has put out a vast array of music and recently even found time to bless her supporters with a visual. Today the female rapper celebrates her birthday by releasing a video (directed by  by Akasha Maples & shot by Leo Rocket) that’s giving us another reason to place “All Eye$” on her. Check out Saturn, Alexander‘s latest visual below to see why the attention on her right now is more than necessary.

Kris Rich drops visual for “Pistol Play”

Wednesday, May 16th, 2018

Rising artist and NC’s very own Kris (Keep Real In Soul) Rich is not a rapper you’ll want to sleep on for long. The young rapper released his first EP back in 2016 entitled Hood Nigga With Class and acquired over half of a million listens via SoundCloud. Following the the success of his debut project, the rapper released his second project I Thought You Should Kno in 2017.

Earlier this year I got to witness the rapper in action when he performed his song “Pistol Play“at Milan Hightower’s Dirty Sauce Gala event during CIAA in Charlotte, NC. During the performance, the crowd couldn’t deny the banger nor could I so it was definitely no secret that the rapper had a win on his hands. Luckily for us, “Pistol Play” which currently holds over 173K listens is now finally accompanied by a visual. Check out Kris Rich’s latest video below and let us know your thoughts!
