Back in 2015, we had the pleasure of being exposed to rising rapper Josh? who had released his project The Pre Tape. The release had featured four tracks and consisted of the rapper flowing over production ranging from 9th Wonder and Pete Rock to Da Beatminerz and Ski Beats that ultimately made us do a double-take at the New Jersey native’s wordplay.
After three years of releasing the well received project, Josh? is back with new music and new perspective. Recently the rapper dropped a track called “Show Me Love” and it’s simply, real. The song takes a raw direction over BADBADNOTGOOD‘s “Tone’s Rap”, doesn’t fall short of expression, and it’s safe to say that his rise will definitely be worthy of watch. For now, peep this artist on the rise’s latest track below and let us know what you think.

I recently came across some content from an artist on the rise who’s music is bound to get your attention just like his name. Out of North Inglewood, California, rapper and producer Pure Luxury is not one to be slept on. Originally starting out as a producer, he eventually figured out that sending beats for other people to rap on and selling beats via Youtube weren’t the kind of moves he wanted to make. Pure Luxury would soon be inspired by his friend MCM Raymond to take on rapping and was influenced stylistically through Tyga and Migos (who were underground at the time). Luxury and Raymond soon teamed up to make their joint track “Lax”. After the release , Luxury and Raymond continued to release trap songs but soon realized that tapping into sounds of the west coast would be more beneficial for them and indeed it was. Luxury soon went from experiencing thousands of plays to hundreds of thousands and it’s no doubt that what he’s doing right now is following that same wave. This year Pure Luxury has released a couple tracks underneath his name and recently he dropped his track “Not Yo Nigga” featuring Nasty Nas along with a visual for it following up after his track “Give It To Me”.
It’s clear that what Luxury has, the people want and it’s definitely apparent in how it’s currently gravitating. Luxury plans to release two visuals before the year including one for an unreleased track which is set to release in late November with a release for the second in December. For now, get to know our artist on the rise, check out his Soundcloud here, peep the visual above, and give us your thoughts!

When it comes to indie artist Wavy Banx, talking “Finesse” comes easy. The 23 year-old Greensboro native grew up highly influenced by the greats from Tupac and Lil Wayne to UGK and Outkast, free-styling amongst his circle, and even writing verses at even a young age. It wasn’t until he graduated from college and moved down to the heavy hip-hop music scene of ATL when he realized that music was a calling he couldn’t deny. Recently the creative released a trippy visual (directed by Rex Way) for his track “Finesse” and we just cant seem to stop pressing play. It’s clear that this is just the beginning for Banx but for now, peep this artist on the rise’s visual below and let us know what you think!

If we had to describe a raw talent who’s on the rise, we would have to put Brooklyn’s very own J’lan Oliver within that sentence. J’lan has always been passionate about singing, playing guitar, and it has been apparent from the progressive popularity he’s gained from his acoustic covers via Youtube. After releasing numerous covers ranging from a thousand to sixty-two thousand views and various track releases through SoundCloud, the 23-year old recently released his 5-track EP entitled Acoustic Odyssey. Amongst the project, J’lan is transparent and in tune with the artist he is becoming. In addition to recently dropping this project, J’lan also dropped his lyrical visual for the EP’s second track “As You Are” that we just cant get enough of.
Tap above to take a look at his recent visual (directed by Muve Media) and peep and stream his latest project here to get the perfect glimpse of what’s to come.
